BOSTON — Volunteers and city leaders worked together in freezing temperatures overnight to get a better look at the homeless population in Boston.
Mayor Marty Walsh and other state officials canvassed downtown crossing and other nearby areas to record information about homeless individuals.
The goal is to use the data to identify any gaps in existing services and programs available.
It comes as Mayor Walsh announced the city received more than $26 million in federal funding to support Boston's homeless programs.
