BOSTON — Uber reportedly plans to send an email to riders Monday -- just as Lyft did Friday -- asking them to fight Massport on these proposed changes.
People picking up a ride-share at Logan Airport already need to walk to a designated area, but the new proposal would create designated drop-off zones as well.
Ride-shares like Uber and Lyft can drop passengers off right at the terminal, which Massport believes accounts for a large amount of the traffic congestion.

The other key proposal Massport’s oversight board will vote on this week involves the pickup fee. If approved, that would increase from $3.25 to $5 -- a fee that goes right to riders.
“We laid out a proposal to the airport that can reduce deadheading, raise new revenues and be implemented quickly with little upfront cost to the airport - all without forcing customers to be picked up and dropped off in a distant parking lot," a spokesperson for Uber, Harry Hartfield, said in a statement emailed to Boston 25 News. "While we want to work with Massport on a reasonable solution, we can’t sit idly by while the airport pushes an unfair plan that will force rideshare customers to pay more and get less."
The taxi industry would not be impacted by these changes and riders with disabilities would still be allowed to be dropped off at the terminal.
Uber riders should expect a link to a petition in their inboxes Monday morning.
Massport’s oversight board is expected to vote on Thursday.
