MALDEN, Mass. — A Massachusetts man accused of shooting his estranged wife to death outside her parents' home has been ordered held without bail on a murder charge as new details of the killing emerged.
Emilio Matarazzo, of Peabody, was arraigned Thursday in Malden District Court.
Police in Everett say the 55-year-old Matarazzo shot Ersilia Cataldo Matarazzo multiple times as she sat in her car in her parents' driveway Wednesday morning. The 50-year-old victim was on Everett's Board of Assessors and a cousin of city Mayor Carlo DeMaria Jr.

Prosecutors say Ersilia Cataldo Matarazzo had filed for divorce after 30 years of marriage and feared Emilio Matarazzo. Officials say she rejected his efforts to win her back, including his sending her a $20,000 check, chocolates and apology letter.
It's not clear if Emilio Matarazzo has a lawyer who could respond to the allegations.
