Family of unsolved Lynn murder: “Put Harmony first "

LYNN, Mass. — The family of Darlin Guzman, a 28-year-old father of three gunned down in front of a Lynn convenience store in 2008, is hoping investigators will first put their efforts into finding missing New Hampshire girl Harmony Montgomery.

This week a law enforcement source close to the Guzman homicide investigation told Boston 25 that Harmony’s biological father, Adam Montgomery, has long been suspect in Darlin Guzman’s murder.

Darlin Guzman’s stepmother told Boston 25 the news has stunned her family. But she is hoping investigators will maintain their focus on finding Harmony Montgomery.

“I don’t know how one is connected to the other, but I am very much aware there is a little child involved. And I cannot bring my son Darlin back. That being said, I would say, concentrate on finding the missing child. And then we can link both cases together,” Ramonita Guzman said.

Darlin Guzman was shot to death on February 10, 2008 outside a convenience store in Lynn’s Austin Square.

A law enforcement source tells Boston 25 reporter Bob Ward that investigators have been looking at Adam Montgomery, and two members of his family, for the crime almost since Day One.

But there’s never been an arrest. The still-unsolved murder has been too much for Darlin Guzman’s family.

“It’s one of the reasons that we moved out of that city. Out of that Lynn. I couldn’t take it anymore. Every time I drive by…it breaks my heart. So, we have to move out of the state to keep alive. How do you live? Your own son die, you don’t know why,” said Arcadio Guzman, Darlin’s father.

Darlin Guzman’s parents tell Bob Ward, in the 14 years since their son’s murder, they never heard the name Adam Montgomery.

Now, they can’t forget it.

“I’m under the impression that he is a monster. He’s been in and out of the system. He’s been getting away with it. And I think it’s time for him to be put away and get what he deserves,” Ramonita Guzman said.
