Multiple agencies investigating infant death in Norwood

NORWOOD, Mass. — Norwood police, Massachusetts State Police and the Department of Children and Families are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an infant Sunday night.

Few details have been released by investigators, but the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office told Boston 25 News that a baby was taken from a home and brought to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead.

An autopsy was completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, but it didn’t determine the infant’s cause of death.

“The autopsy was not determinative,” the District Attorney’s Office said in a statement to Boston 25 News. “The cause and manner of death remain undetermined pending additional testing and study.”

Boston 25 News asked DCF officials if the agency investigates all child deaths.

We were told DCF investigates allegations of child abuse and neglect that are reported to the Department and Boston 25 was referred to this website.

No other information was immediately available.
