Mass. State House evacuated after accidental alarm

BOSTON — The Massachusetts State House was evacuated briefly Monday morning after an alarm was set off accidentally inside the building, according to Mass. State Police.

Construction in the building tripped an alarm, which sent everyone streaming out onto the sidewalks around the building just after 11 a.m.

However, it was quickly determined there was nothing hazardous involved and everyone was allowed back into the building.

"Planned construction in the basement of the State House triggered the building's fire alarm system. After an orderly evacuation, staff returned to the building within 20 minutes," the communications director for the executive office for administration and finance said.
