Surveillance video catches Easter Sunday murder in Lynn

LYNN, Mass. — Police have released chilling surveillance video of a heartless murder, hoping someone can help find the man responsible.

William Cash, 44, is now one of the Massachusetts’s most wanted fugitives after police say he shot and killed 46-year-old Lenardo Clement, a legally blind man, in Lynn on Easter Sunday.%

The murder happened in Lynn's Central Square in broad daylight. It was shortly after Clement and two others left Easter Sunday service.

“He was a peacekeeper. He was wanted to keep the girl safe. No problem at all, they were coming from Easter Sunday mass. It doesn’t get much worse than that,” Lt. Michael Farley said. “Just a senseless murder, he didn't deserve any of this.”

A surveillance camera picked up Cash at a coffee shop before the murder.

Police told Boston 25 Clemento was walking down the street with the man and woman, when Cash twice tried to confront the woman.%

Police say Cash opened fire when Lenardo tried to peacefully intervene.

“I want to make a direct appeal to this William Cash to turn yourself in,” Clemento’s mother, Muriel, said.  “Please don’t let anyone else suffer at your hands. And also to his family, if you are helping him, or know where he might be, do justice. Turn him in. Because you don’t want to have this on your heart and on your conscience, to know another person dies at his hand.”
