BOSTON — The Martin Richard Foundation will spend the week leading up to the Boston Marathon collecting comfort items for local children in need.
Martin Richard was the youngest of three people killed when bombs exploded near the finish line in 2013. The mission of the foundation in his name is to choose kindness.

This year, in honor of One Boston Day, the foundation is collecting new stuffed animals, earbuds, and nightlights to add to emergency hero kits. The kits will be given to children who abruptly enter foster care without many personal belongings.
"Not only are we meeting the needs of these young people. But we are trying to go one step further and trying to make their lives a little more comfortable," said Joe Katusek.
