MILFORD, Mass. — A man was seriously injured after a car crashed through a Subway restaurant in Milford on Monday afternoon.

The crash, which happened at around 1 a.m., also shattered the glass storefront and bent the frame.

Emad Attia, who works at the Garden Pizza next door, said he heard and felt the impact of the crash as the car went through the building.

"Very, very strong sound," said Attia. "We are running out [of] the store to figure out what happened. We find the car already inside the store, and one guy already on the floor, heavy bleeding."

In the pictures taken at the scene by Attia, a woman, who he believes is a nurse, could be seen applying pressure to the wound of the man who had been struck by the car.

Firefighters said the man suffered a serious leg injury and a wound to his hand. The victim was conscious as he was rushed to the hospital. He is currently being treated at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

According to police, the victim is a man in his 40s who had been leaving the restaurant when the driver, who is also in her 40s, crashed through the storefront.

Police have not yet commented on what led to the crash.

"She said something [was] wrong with the brake in her car," said Attia. "That’s why the car went forward instead of going back."

The owner of the building says that, while it is structurally safe, the board of health will have to finalize their inspection and give them the "all-clear" before they can re-open.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident and are reviewing surveillance footage of the crash, but so far no charges have been filed.
