EVERETT, Mass. — Police are investigating after a man was killed in a stabbing in Everett Tuesday night, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office said.

The victim, 54-year-old Michael Starr, was found just after 9 p.m. at Bradford Terrace and transported to a local hospital, where he later died, according to a statement released by the DA's office.

Authorities say no one has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing, and Ryan said Wednesday that authorities were asking for the public's help as they look to identify a man in connection with the stabbing.

Everett Police urged the public to use caution when traveling at night in the area between Ferry Street and Cedar Street "as they investigate two stabbing incidents that have occurred in the last ten days on Bradford Terrace with one resulting in a homicide."

The community was left on edge after the fatal incident Tuesday night, knowing the suspect is still walking the streets.

Meanwhile, the victim's neighbors were left mourning the loss of a member of their community.

"We all loved him," Phyllis Morley said. "He helped everyone in the neighborhood. He put my bells up with even asking him, he would do everything for you."

Morley said Starr worked as a plumber and mechanic, and said he was known to have a big heart and help all of his neighbors.

"His girlfriend came over and told me this morning," Morley said. "I couldn't believe it."

Neighbors say Starr was walking home from 7-Eleven when authorities say he was stabbed to death in the random incident.

"He went to the store, he goes there every night almost," Morley said. "Walk down, just to the end."

A neighbor told Boston 25 News that Starr lived in the neighborhood for 30 years and never had any problems with anyone.

"It is frightening, even if it’s not completely random, that these two incidents have taken place in a residential, relatively quiet neighborhood in a city that is relatively quiet," Ryan said. "We’re just asking people to search your memory. If you know you were in that area during that half hour on both those nights, please reach out to us."

Boston 25 News cameras were there as detectives went door to door, handing out flyers to residents.

"They gave me a flyer with a picture and two incidents on Murphy Terrace, which is a small street," Beverly McCarthy said.

Neighbors were left rattled, knowing about the two stabbings in 10 days in the same vicinity.

"I don’t know what it is, but two different people, that’s kind of scary," McCarthy said.

Officials have not released any other details. The DA's office said Everett Police and State Police are investigating.
