Man charged in connection to apparent Lowell homicide

LOWELL, Mass. — A Lowell man was arraigned and charged on Friday in connection with an apparent homicide on Walker Street, authorities say.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Acting Lowell Police Superintendent Jonathan Webb said 41-year-old Samundi Cobb was charged in connection to the incident on Thursday that killed 40-year-old Lowell native Saro Mann.

The apparent homicide happened around 2:40 a.m. on Thursday morning after police responded to a report that Mann had suffered life-threatening injuries on Walker Street.

Mann was transported to Lowell General Hospital, before being pronounced dead shortly after.

Preliminary investigations say a home invasion happened early Thursday morning, where Mann was assaulted.

Authorities say Cobb allegedly stole a safe and a video game console from the home, which were allegedly found in his trash later on.

Cobb is being held without bail, and has a dangerousness hearing scheduled for August 3.
