Man arrested after armed standoff in Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. — A man has been arrested after an armed standoff inside a Lowell apartment building Monday night.

The incident was reported on Jackson Street.

The Lowell Sun reported the suspect called police and said he had knives he wanted to turn in. When officers arrived, the man approached them with a knife in each hand.

A SWAT team was called in to arrest the unidentified suspect.

He was taken to a hospital.
