Man arrested after allegedly assaulting wife with waffle

LOWELL, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A man was arrested after allegedly assaulting his wife with a waffle in Lowell Monday.

At about 5 p.m., police responded to 417 Beacon St. for the report of a domestic assault. Patrick Manjong's wife of eight years told police that the couple began fighting while she was making waffles for dinner, according to the Lowell Sun. Her husband wasn't happy with the meal and said that waffles and syrup are unhealthy, police said.

Apparently, Manjong was so angry that he slapped his wife across the face with a waffle and police said they could still see pieces of the food stuck in her hair and face.

The 39-year-old was arrested on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, the waffle. He plead not guilty at his arraignment and was released without bail. He is due back in court in June, but the couple will be in divorce court Wednesday.
