Macy's announced Wednesday that two Massachusetts stores will be closing as part of its company restructuring.
The company announced 68 closures total on Wednesday. The locations in Massachusetts include:
- Westgate, Brockton (144,000 square feet; opened in 2003; 79 associates);
- Silver City Galleria, Taunton (152,000 square feet; opened in 1992; 82 associates);
The stores are slotted to close in early 2017.
Macy's said that associates losing their jobs may be offered positions in nearby stores. Those eligible will be offered severance benefits. The company estimates that 3,900 associates will lose their jobs across the country.
