Lowell police officer dragged 150 feet by car

LOWELL, Mass. — A Lowell police sergeant is recovering after getting dragged 150 feet when he was hit by a car Saturday night.

He was seriously hurt, but police say he is expected to survive.

According to The Lowell Sun, the suspect is charged with attempted murder.

The sergeant was hit while responding to a fight call Saturday morning.

Witnesses say the driver actually accelerated when the officer was walking up to his car.

The suspect was arrested following a crash and short chase.
