FALMOUTH, Maine — A Maine man charged with drunken driving was traveling the wrong way on Interstate 95 when he collided head-on with another vehicle whose driver was pregnant, state police said.
Stephan Adams, 30, of Windham, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving to endanger after the “harrowing” crash on Saturday night in Falmouth, state police said in a statement.
State Police had received a report of a wrong-way driver at mile marker 53.
Adams, driving a black 2017 Toyota Rav-4, was traveling northbound in the southbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision with a car operating southbound, according to state police, who described the injuries suffered in the crash as “minor.”
Three people, including Adams, the pregnant driver of the southbound vehicle and her passenger were all taken by ambulance to Maine Medical Center in Portland, state police said.
Their conditions were not known Monday.
Falmouth is a small town north of Portland. The town’s population was 12,444 at the 2020 census.
