A wrong-way driver was the cause of multiple car crashes that snarled traffic near the Prudential Tunnel Wednesday night.
The car entered the Mass Pike traveling west in the eastbound lanes, a Massachusetts State Police spokesperson told Boston 25 News.

The wrong-way car struck a vehicle prior to the Prudential Tunnel before continuing west and hitting several other vehicles before stopping.
Non-life-threatening injuries were reported at the scene of the first crash, according to MSP.
A traffic camera overlooking the highway caught several police and emergency vehicles on the scene. Only the right lane was open to traffic for an extended period of time. All lanes were reopened around an hour after the initial crash.

One vehicle had to be towed, said MSP.
