GROVELAND, Mass. — A 27-year-old woman has died after she crashed the SUV she was driving into a parked car in Groveland late Monday night. That woman has been identified as Alyson Spence, 27, of Rowley.
Groveland Police were called to the area of 122 School St. on Rte. 97 around 10:50 p.m. Monday night. There, they found a gray SUV with heavy front-end damage.
Groveland Fire Chief Robert Valentine said Spence, who was driving the SUV, was taken to the trauma center at Lawrence General Hospital. Groveland Police Chief Jeffrey T. Gillen told Boston 25 News that she died from her injuries.
Valentine said two children in the backseat of the SUV were not injured.
“Two little ones in the backseat - a 6-month-old, a 2-year-old - both conscious and alert and left the scene with a family member,” he said.
Initial investigation shows Spence was driving northbound on Rte. 97 when she veered across the center line into the southbound lane before crashing into the parked car, police said.
“We don’t know if she had a medical issue or not, that’s under investigation,” Valentine said.
Police remained at the scene until 3 a.m. Tuesday. Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction teams are assisting Groveland Police with the investigation.
