WALTHAM, Mass. — A woman is dead after getting shot in a parking lot next to an apartment building in Waltham.
According to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office, on Friday night around 11:30, Waltham police responded to a parking lot adjacent to an apartment building on Second Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers located a female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
One person who lives here at The Wright apartments says they heard fighting in the hallway on the fifth floor then down in the parking lot followed by 2 gunshots.
He also says apartment 515 is blocked off by yellow police tape.
One woman who also lives here says she moved in just one week ago.
“It is scary because what if I was out here walking the dog you know but could have been in the way could have happened to anybody out here could have been in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Resident Alyssa Davila said.
The shooting is under an active investigation and additional details are not available.
Anyone who saw something unusual in the area early this morning is asked to contact Waltham Police.
