Whitman’s Peaceful Meadows ice cream shop up for auction after 61 years

WHITMAN, Mass — A long-standing summer staple of the South Shore is going up on the auction block.

Peaceful Meadows Ice Cream in Whitman will be sold at auction in August, according to a Facebook post from the auctioneering and real estate company JJManning Auctioneers

The family is willingly selling the business after 61 years of serving the South Shore, according to the company’s Facebook post.

Over 50 acres of agricultural land will also be up for auction, as well as the two-family home across the street, according to JJManning.

JJManning says in a Facebook comment the store will remain open through the end of August.

The Plymouth location will remain open.
