Wegmans customers urged to check statements after credit cards charged twice for groceries

BURLINGTON, Mass. — Wegmans customers are being urged to check their bank statements after some credit cards were charged twice for recent grocery orders.

Some shoppers who paid for in-store and online orders with a credit card on Aug. 16 were “inadvertently charged twice for their order,” a spokesperson for the Rochester-based grocery chain said in a statement shared with Boston 25.

EBT and debit card transactions were not affected unless they were processed as credit at the customer’s request, the spokesperson noted.

The popular chain is now working with its processor to reverse the charges.

“Customers who have not already seen the charges reversed should see the duplicate charges refunded in the upcoming days,” the spokesperson added.

Wegmans has five locations in Massachusetts including Burlington, Chestnut Hill, Medford, Northborough, and Westwood.

Wegmans closed its Natick location earlier this summer.
