STOUGHTON, Mass. — Stoughton Police Department announced they have arrested a man after he barricaded himself inside a home, escaping, which led to an on-foot pursuit.
Edmilson Semedo, 22, of Brockton was arrested with multiple outstanding warrants.
Stoughton police were tipped off that Semedo was staying at a house on Britton Avenue.
Mutual aid was requested, which consisted of the SWAT Team, Metro Drone Unit, Investigative Support Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, and a K9 Unit.
Once SWAT arrived at the home and set up a perimeter, Semedo fled and attempted to enter an unmarked police cruiser. Semedo then fled on foot into the woods.
With the drone unit’s help, authorities could find and track Semedo. Officers were able to locate Semedo’s location and take him into custody. Semedo was arrested without further incident.
“I would like to commend the Stoughton Police officers who responded to this incident and thank our mutual aid partners from the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council and the Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center,” Chief Donna McNamara said. “This was a potentially dangerous situation that was resolved without any injuries and with the suspect in custody.”
Semedo is expected to be arraigned in Stoughton District Court on Wednesday.
