29-year-old man struck and killed by box truck in Cambridge parking lot

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Police and fire officials responded to a deadly pedestrian accident in a Cambridge parking lot Thursday night.

Matthew Barker, 29, of Boston, was hit by a box truck registered to a nearby restaurant in a parking lot near State Street and Massachusetts Avenue around 8:30 p.m., according to the Middlesex District Attorney. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver of the box truck, a man in his 20s, stayed on the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No further details were made available.
