Victim of deadly weekend house fire in NH identified

CANAAN, N.H. — State authorities identified the victim of a deadly fire in New Hampshire over the weekend.

According to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, just before 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, Canaan firefighters responded to 1126 Route 4 for a building fire.

Arriving companies found that a porch was fully engulfed in flames. After confirming all occupants had escaped, the fire was contained.

Crews also found 61-year-old Ricky A. Bailey, who had sustained injuries while fleeing the burning building. He was transported to a Massachusetts hospital for further care.

On Monday, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Massachusetts will determine the cause of death.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Canaan Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Canaan Police Department, Enfield Police Department, Lebanon Fire Department, Hanover Police Department, Rumney Fire Department, Grafton Fire Department, Lyme Fire Department, and Danbury Fire Department.
