Vehicle of interest sought after dead dog found in garbage bag in RI parking lot

LINCOLN, R.I. — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a vehicle of interest allegedly involved in an animal cruelty case.

Officers responding to a report of a dead animal in a garbage bag in the parking lot of Barney’s Pond on Smithfield Avenue Saturday found a deceased, severely emaciated dog with visible signs of trauma, according to authorities.

Investigators believe the dog was discarded sometime between the evening of Friday, December 13, and early Saturday, December 14.

Lincoln Police Detectives say the white Toyota RAV4 pictured is considered a vehicle of interest.
