QUINCY, Mass. — We are learning more about the victim in the shooting in Quincy’s Germantown section. The family says the teen killed was a senior at Weymouth High School and identified him as Nathan Paul.
Quincy Police say they responded to Taffrail Rd., around 6:30 p.m. for a call for shots fired. When officers arrived at that location, they found Nathan Paul shot.
He was taken to Boston Medical Center where he later died of his injuries, according to Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey.
“No suspects have been ID’d at this time” Quincy Police tweeted. That same tweet indicates that witnesses saw multiple people fleeing the scene on foot.
The Weymouth High School community was in shock after hearing one of their students was shot and killed. Paul’s family did not know why Paul was in Quincy at the time of the shooting.
Ann Dargin lives near where the shooting happened. “I heard a gunshot right over there and heard someone scream,” said Dargin.
Police and the Norfolk District Attorney say the man shot was in this Germantown neighborhood. Investigators say the victim managed to drive a short distance before crashing into this mini-van which crashed into the side of this home. You can see some of the damage caused by gunfire to the door and car window. Police have not shared a motive in the shooting.
Paul’s family says he was a senior with plans to go to Quincy College next year. He was on the football team and also wrestled. The Weymouth school superintendent wrote in a statement, “Moments like these are difficult to process for students, as well as staff and parents.” “Our hearts are with the student’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Sebastien Lacrete started a GoFundMe on behalf of the Paul family.
Quincy Police are currently investigating with the help of the Massachusetts State Police.
