WESTFORD, Mass — A Westford family was woken up Friday not by birds chirping but the stomping of heavy hooves.

Sherri LeDuc tells Boston 25 she was woken up around 6:45 a.m. when her motion camera alerted her to a very large visitor. When she checked, she found a moose lingering in her yard.

LeDuc says the moose stayed near her house for around 10 minutes before it left down the street.

“The sound of its hooves hitting the pavement was so surreal and loud,” LeDuc told Boston 25 News.

Westford firefighters alerted the public to a moose near a church Friday afternoon.
