Pennsylvania — Two Massachusetts residents were arrested over the weekend after releasing 200 minks from cages at a Pennsylvania farm, authorities said.

Christopher Legere, 25, and Cara Mitrano, 27, were arrested early Saturday on charges of agricultural vandalism, criminal mischief- damage of property, theft by unlawful taking, cruelty to animals, burglary, and criminal trespassing, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Most of the minks have since been recovered.

This incident is not similar to one on the same farm in September 2023, when over 8,000 minks were released and most were not captured. They were either killed or lost.

A judge reportedly set $150,000 cash bail for Legere and Mitrano.

The North American Animal Liberation Press Office released a statement regarding the issue and is seeking financial aid to help those in custody.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
