BOSTON — Police are investigating an attempted murder where the man took his own life after trying to shoot his wife. It happened on Lawrence Ave in Dorchester overnight. “I was in the house and I heard the shots,” said one neighbor. “I was just watching tv in my front room and I could hear commotion outside And I could see police and ambulance. And they were bringing a woman on the stretcher,” said another man.
The Lawrence Ave neighborhood in Dorchester turned into a crime scene overnight after police say two people were shot. We later learned from the Suffolk County DA’s Office – the man shot his wife and then killed himself. Ronny Reinford live across the street. “He seemed like a really nice guy, complacent. Always a friendly neighborhood guy. I even gave him my washing machine,” said Reinford.
Some of the neighbors did not want to appear on camera. “Every time I pass on the street I see I’m clean up his taxi and he would sometimes say hi.” a woman said.
One man living nearby told us he just talked to the man about getting in better shape as the weather improved. “We recently just had a conversation in front of the house. He was riding his bike a lot. He used to drive a cab. He said he had to exercise more,” said the neighbor.
Police telling us this happened around midnight and everyone we talked to told us they did not hear anything leading up to the gunshots. Several of the homes around here do have cameras but it is unclear if police were able to get anything off of them. The Suffolk DA has not released the couple’s identity only saying the woman is still in a hospital.
