BOSTON — Travis Roy, a former BU hockey player and champion for people living with paralysis, has died, Boston 25 has learned.
Roy died on Thursday from complications from paralysis. He was 45.
Roy was paralyzed in 1995 during his first shift as a BU hockey player and spent the rest of his life dedicated to raising funds to find a cure for paralysis.
So sad to hear about the passing of Travis Roy who died today at 45. We just did an interview with him two weeks ago and he was his amazing, inspiration self. A remarkable person and true hero. He will he missed by so many. My condolences to his family and many friends.
