A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Berkshire, Hampden, Worcester, Essex, Hampshire, Franklin and Middlesex counties until 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Damaging wind gusts, torrential rain, lightning, an isolated tornado and hail is possible.
A tornado warning that was issued for parts of Massachusetts on Thursday afternoon has expired, but severe thunderstorm warnings remain in effect.
The tornado warning was in effect for Northern Worcester County, Northwestern Middlesex County, and East central Franklin County. It expired at 4:15 p.m.
“Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris,” the NWS said.
A severe thunderstorm warning was also in effect for Northwestern Worcester County and Northeastern Franklin County. It expired at 3:45 p.m.
A tornado warning that was issued for parts of New Hampshire earlier in the afternoon has expired, but severe thunderstorm warnings remain in effect.
The tornado warning was issued for areas including New London, Wilmot, Grantham, and Grafton in South Central Grafton County and Northwestern Merrimack County. It expired at 2:15 p.m.

Also in New Hampshire, a severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Southeastern Cheshire County, Hillsborough County, and Southeastern Carroll County until 4:30 p.m.
There is a severe thunderstorm watch that impacts New Hampshire’s Belknap, Carroll, Cheshire, Coos, Grafton, Hillsborough, Merrimack, Rockingham, Strafford, and Sullivan counties until 8 p.m.
