BOSTON — Three men have been arrested on gun charges after police responded to “multiple” ShotSpotter activations in Dorchester over the weekend, police said.
Police arrested Jaheim Porter, 19, of Brockton; Keondre Barrett, 23, of Dorchester; and Robert Barrett-Scott, 25, of Mattapan.
Porter, Barrett, and Barrett-Scott were each charged with: unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. They are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
At about 10:24 p.m. Sunday, officers assigned to Roxbury, Mattapan and members of the Youth Violence Strike Force all responded to the area of Normandy Street and Brunswick Street in Dorchester for “multiple Shot Spotter activations,” police said. ShotSpotter is the city’s gunshot detection system.
Officers processing the scene obtained a description of three suspects fleeing the area, police said. Officers saw three men jump over a backyard fence, and followed them on foot.
Officers were able to safely apprehend all three suspects, police said.
Officers recovered three firearms from the backyard from which the suspects ran, police said. The firearms were a Ruger SR9 with one round in the chamber, and six rounds in the magazine, a Smith and Wesson 5906, and a P80 Ghost Gun.
