Southbridge, Mass. — Southbridge Fire Department responded to a house fire at 101 Worcester Street on Sunday afternoon.

Crews were dispatched at 11:22 a.m. to reports of a smoking appliance and that ambulances were requested.

Upon arrival, crews found one of the residents with burn injuries all over their arms. They were transported to UMASS Southbridge for further treatment. Additional fires reached other spaces of the residence.

A 2nd alarm was quickly struck for mutual aid assistance, with crews extinguishing the fires in the residence.

Unfortunately, three of the six units at the residence were deemed uninhabitable, leaving three families displaced.

The cause of fire remains under investigation.
