DEDHAM, Mass. — Crews are investigating after a tractor trailer struck a Commuter Rail bridge in Dedham Monday afternoon.
The Dedham Fire Department says the truck was too tall to go under a bridge in the area of East Street and Grant Avenue and struck the overhang. The crash caused extensive damage to the roof of the semi truck, which was travelling up from Miami.
“Unfortunately this is a common occurrence,” Deputy Chief William Walsh said. “People just ignore the signs... and unfortunately this is what happens.”
There were two men in the vehicle at the time of the crash, neither of which were injured.
Engineers are on scene assessing the bridge.
Traffic delays are expected in the area while crews continue to investigate.
