BANGOR, Maine — A Texas man arrested for domestic assault in Maine twice in two days is accused of cutting his own face with a razor blade to try and get the victim arrested for assaulting him, police said Thursday.

Houghton is charged with domestic violence aggravated assault, two counts; obstructing the report of a crime, criminal mischief, and Violation of Conditions of Release, McAmbley said. Houghton is being held at the Penobscot County Jail.

The next day, on Wednesday, Houghton called Bangor Police to report being assaulted by his girlfriend at her apartment.
When officers found Houghton, he was bleeding from cuts on his face, and claimed the victim from the day before had attacked him with a razor blade, McAmbley said
When officers found the woman at her apartment, she reported Houghton had a key and had entered her apartment and attacked her again, McAmbley said
“She told officers she felt he was there to kill her. She also told them he had a razor blade and had cut his own face, telling her he was going to get her arrested for assaulting him,” McAmbley said.
Houghton was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. The woman was also treated at a local hospital for her injuries.
