Teamwork! Clinton Fire Chief assists cats rescued from smoky fire in Sterling

Some quick action by fire crews in Sterling helped save the lives of two cats rescued from a fire.

The moment was caught on camera by the Sterling Police Department on Friday.

The videos show Fire Chief Michael Lutes of the Clinton Fire Department giving oxygen to revive the cats and comfort them until the animal control officer was able to get them to a local animal hospital.

Sterling Police say it was a busy day for local fire crews. Several departments responded to this fire, including Sterling, Clinton, Lancaster, Holden, West Boylston, and Princeton.

One person who lived in the home was taken to the hospital for an evaluation but was released a short time later.

The cause of the fire was an unattended heat gun that the resident was using to remove paint in the house, according to the Sterling Fire Department.
