Suspect arrested after stealing, crashing vehicle in Fitchburg, police say

FITCHBURG, Mass. — A suspect accused of stealing a vehicle was arrested after crashing it in Fitchburg Monday night.

Fitchburg police officers received a report of a stolen vehicle around 8:37 p.m. Officers found the vehicle on Davis Street a short time later.

When officers signaled for the vehicle to stop, the driver took off, Fitchburg police say.

The driver took the stolen vehicle down a dead-end street and crashed. The suspect tried to run away but was arrested by police.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
