MARSHFIELD, Mass. — A Marshfield man is facing several charges connected to the robbery of a gas station and a stolen, burnt car on Thursday, according to authorities.
47-year-old Aidan Boyle is charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony, larceny of a motor vehicle, and malicious destruction of property.
Marshfield Police say they assisted Duxbury officers with a car fire investigation on Duxbury beach that appeared intentional. The registration of the vehicle came back to a Marshfield address and the owner of the vehicle claims it was stolen while parked at a gas station overnight.
According to police, they received multiple alarms from the same service station while investigating the Duxbury car fire.
Officers arriving at the Marshfield service station discovered the business had been broken into. Police say cash and several cartons of cigarettes were stolen just prior to their arrival.
Surveillance footage of the break-in reportedly showed a suspect wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gloves, and a ski mask stealing a vehicle in the rear parking lot earlier in the evening.
Authorities say the suspect returned 2 hours later to break into the building and steal cash and cigarettes.
During the course of the investigation, a Marshfield Police Officer saw a suspect, identified as Boyle, walking in the area.
Investigators say Boyle matched the suspect’s description and had a black hooded sweatshirt, gloves, a ski mask, a large amount of cash, and several cartons of cigarettes on him.
His bail was set at $25,000 and he will be arraigned at Plymouth District Court on Thursday. Authorities say additional charges are still pending out of Duxbury.
