BOSTON — Boston’s Storrow Drive was shut down for hours on Friday morning after a truck hauling boxes of Brussels sprouts struck the Boston University Bridge and rolled over, spilling debris and oil all over the roadway.
Troopers responding to the eastbound side of Storrow Drive around 2 a.m. found a truck resting on its side with its roof sheared off, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Video from the scene showed crews using a forklift to remove the boxes that were left scattered everywhere.
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection responded to the scene and spent about nine hours cleaning up the oil spill.
Storrow traffic was diverted onto Western Avenue for the during of the morning commute.
The truck driver suffered no injuries of note, state police said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
