Driver cited, NH roadway closed for several hours after trash truck rollover

BARRINGTON, N.H. — Trash was strewn all over a New Hampshire roadway early Tuesday morning after a tractor trailer travelling at a high rate of speed rolled on its side.

The driver, 67-year-old David Garon from Lyndeborough, was uninjured but cited for excessive speed.

New Hampshire State Police (NHSP) say they responded to the area of 1253 Franklin Pierce Highway in Barrington around 5 a.m. for a report of a commercial vehicle rollover. Arriving officers found a 2009 Peterbilt tractor with an attached trailer full of household trash emptied across the thoroughfare, causing quite the mess for first responders.

Due to the potential for safety hazards, the road is expected to be closed for several hours while crews clean up the trash.

Members of NHSP Troop G also placed the truck out of service due to the extensive damage caused by the crash.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area and to contact them if they have information about or witnessed the collision.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
