WOODS HOLE, Mass. — Steamship Authority announced Wednesday morning that a ransomware attack targeted its operations, impacting its ferry services in Woods Hole, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket.
Officials say there is no impact on the safety of the vessel’s operations because the issue isn’t affecting radar or GPS.
A team of IT professionals is currently assessing the impact of the attack. Additional information will be provided upon completion of the initial assessment. 2/2

As a result of the attack, customers traveling with Steamship Authority may experience delays throughout the day until the issue has been resolved.
The Authority is working internally, as well as with federal, state, and local authorities to determine the origin of the attack.
