NEW HAMPSHIRE — A Brentwood man has been placed under arrest after leading New Hampshire State Troopers through a high-speed pursuit.

On Friday, January 3, around 11:10 p.m. N.H. State Trooper patrolling Route 101 Westbound in Exeter witnessed a Toyota Camry going 131 mph in a 65 mph zone. The trooper went to catch up with the Camry and activated his emergency lights. However, the driver did not stop and the chase began.

The Camry went off Exit 9 on Epping Road. While continuing the pursuit, the trooper rolled over and crashed at an intersection. Fellow State Troopers and EMS responded to assist the crashed trooper.

Other State Troopers continued the pursuit onto Deer Hill Road, where they placed tire deflation devices. Despite that, the Camry continued onto Route 101 Westbound.

The Camry then made a U-turn, driving Eastbound while driving the wrong way into oncoming traffic.

The driver then turned around again and continued going Westbound.

Troopers were finally able to obtain the driver of the Camry when he rolled over and crashed into the woods.

Troopers arrested 56-year-old Michael P. Holt of Brentwood. He was charged with numerous violations, including:

  • three counts of felony reckless conduct and misdemeanor counts of disobeying an officer
  • aggravated driving under the influence of drugs or liquor
  • conduct after an accident
  • criminal mischief
  • violation of reckless operation

Holt was transported to a hospital for evaluation and discharged to be held in Rockingham County Jail.

The Trooper who crashed had minor injuries and was discharged from the hospital.

Holt is expected to be arraigned in Brentwood District Court on Monday, January 6.
