BELMONT, Mass — Two people were taken to the hospital after an SUV barreled into a home and another vehicle struck a utility pole in Belmont overnight.
Emergency crews responding to the area of White Street around midnight found a black SUV lodged up against a house and a crumpled white sedan resting against a pole.
There didn’t appear to be a lot of damage to the home, but the front of the SUV was smashed in.
The woman who lives in the home didn’t want to talk on camera but told a Boston 25 News photographer that it “sounded like a bomb went off.”
The other car involved in the crash was a white Prius. It smashed into a utility pole. Both the front and back of the car were heavily damaged.
The Belmont fire chief said the drivers of both vehicles were able to get themselves out, and that they were alert and talking when first responders arrived. They were taken to the hospital to be evaluated.
So far, police have not said what led up to the crash.
