Somerville’s Winter Hill School to remain closed through 2024 school year

SOMERVILLE, Mass — The Winter Hill School Community Innovation School in Somerville will remain closed for the upcoming school year.

The school announced that the building will continue to be closed after a section of concrete fell into a stairwell inside the building last month while the school was closed.

“Because we expect structural engineers’ assessments and final reports to take several more weeks, and to be sure we have a formal plan in place for the fall with enough time to plan, we have made the decision that best meets the needs of the WHCIS community,” the district said.

According to the district, classes will take place in the Edgerly Building at 8 Bonair St. Grades 1-8 and the AIM Program will be at Edgerly Center, while PK and K (3 classrooms total) will be at the Capuano Center.

The City and SPS will host another virtual community meeting on Tuesday, June 27th, from 5 to 7 p.m.
