Serious crash involving pickup truck shuts down Expressway in Boston

BOSTON — All lanes on the northbound side of the Expressway in Boston were blocked by the wreckage of a crash involving a pickup truck on Thursday morning.

The crash happened on Interstate 93 near Exit 13 at Freeport Street in Dorchester around 9 a.m.

Video from the scene showed a crashed truck and sedan, as well as multiple state police cruisers, blocking all travel lanes on the busy highway.

Traffic leading up to the crash was backed up for miles and motorists were urged to avoid the area while crews worked to clear debris from the roadway.

Three travel lanes were reopened just after 10 a.m. and traffic started flowing again.

It wasn’t immediately clear if anyone was injured in the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
