It’s the final countdown to the 127th Boston Marathon, and more than 30,000 athletes from all 50 states and 122 countries are gearing up for the start of the race.
This year’s marathon comes a decade after two bombs detonated near the finish line.
Longtime participants are eager to once again show their resilience to the world.
Boston 25 News spoke with a couple who met at the Boston Marathon in 1998.
“It’s part of our life,” said Matt Bergin, who’s running his 32nd consecutive Boston Marathon for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. “No matter what tomorrow, it’s one foot in front of the other and keep going.”
The president of the Boston Athletic Association said this year’s marathon is on track to raise $40 million dollars in donations for charities.
