Roxbury man arrested with slew of firearm charges following traffic stop (Boston Police Department)

ROXBURY, Mass. — A Roxbury man was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with multiple firearm offenses following a traffic stop.

Around 9:30 p.m. on December 27, officers pulled over a vehicle at the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Magazine Street after the vehicle failed to stop for a red light.

The vehicle, however, didn’t stop for officers until reaching the area of Norfolk Avenue and Gerard Street.

Officers met with the operator and asked for his license and registration, the operator did not have an active license and was requested out of the vehicle.

A vehicle search was conducted and found a Springfield Armory XD-40 with a 10-round magazine.

Officers attempted to handcuff the operator, 50-year-old David Jones of Roxbury, but Jones resisted. Responding officers were called in and Jones was safely handcuffed.

Jones is being charged with:

  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2nd Offense
  • Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm
  • Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
  • Firearm Violation with One Prior Violent/Drug Crime
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

Jones is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
