A Boston Emergency Medical Services vehicle was damaged after a rock was thrown at it in the area of Mass & Cass Wednesday evening.
According to an EMS spokesperson, the struck vehicle was not an ambulance and was being being driven by a supervisor when it was reportedly struck.
According to a statement from the organization, the 40-year veteran of Boston EMS was not injured during the incident.
“Our providers face dangers daily from patients experiencing mental health emergencies to highly contagious diseases, assaults should not be on that list. Our providers were assaulted over 150 times last year, leaving some with permanent bodily injury and disfigurement. We must condemn all attacks against our EMTs, paramedics. Violence against EMS not only places our staff at risk but also the patients we are responding to care for,” said Mathew Anderson, President of the Boston Police Patrolman’s Association in a statement.
Anyone with knowledge of the incident is encouraged to contact police at 1-800-494-8477.
