ROCHESTER, NH — Police in Rochester were part of a bitter-sweet rescue after saving a newborn fawn from a car crash.
Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Gonic Rd where a vehicle struck a pregnant deer, police say.
As a result of the accident, the mother deer gave birth to two fawns. Unfortunately, the mother deer and one of the twin fawns both passed away leaving one helpless orphaned fawn.
Officers immediately contacted New Hampshire Fish and Game and took the surviving fawn to a licensed rehabilitator.
The fawn will be put in the hands of qualified people with special rehabilitator permits, issued through NH Fish and Game.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
