Residents were forced to brave a chilly New Year’s Eve morning after a fire broke out in a Peabody apartment complex Tuesday morning.
The fire broke out on Main Street just after 5:00 a.m. and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within 30 minutes.
The fire began in a first floor bathroom, according to the Peabody Fire Department.
Eight people, alongside their pets, were displaced due to the fire. No one was injured.
Residents could be seen huddled in blankets as first responders tended to them. The Red Cross will also work to help them.
The Peabody Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal’s office are investigating the cause of the fire.
